Personal Logo Update
I updated my personal logo to a simpler and more readable take on my initials.
A Fresh Look
About two years passed between the left and right versions of my personal logo. In between the two, I improved a lot as a designer and needed a logo that represented that progress.
One of the most important things I wanted to communicate with a new logo was an up-to-date awareness of popular design practices. Popular media is full of organizations re-branding their logos to simpler iconography, so this one needed to be simple too.
Additionally, popular design involves significant usage of empty space to draw even more attention to focal points. My old logo was very bulky and dense, so in the new iteration I made sure to utilize negative space. The result increased clarity around the "AB", making the design easier to initially interpret.
Finally, the logo needed to communicate something about me as a designer. I decided to use angles on the ends of two lines as a small nod to the sleek, geometric style of design I love to work with. The cutoff angles match the angle of the A, making the logo feel cohesive overall.
